Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction
A reaction following treatment for SYPHILIS (and other intracellular infections) caused by the widespread death of antigens. The syndrome is named for the 19th-century Austrian dermatologist Adolph Jarisch, who first described it. The reaction is often accompanied by headache and fever and is more common in those with early syphilis. There are no proven ways to prevent the reaction.
