Paronychia
An infection of the skin at the base of the nail usually caused by the yeast CANDIDA ALBICANS, although bacteria are sometimes at fault. The condition is most often found among women with poor circulation or who must wash their hands often.
Treatment. Antifungal or antibiotic drugs will cure this problem. The hands must be kept dry; any abscess must be surgically drained.
